Canva vs. Stable Diffusion

 

Canva is amazing for creating all sorts of digital resources. I wanted to dive into the AI feature in Canva and also Stable Diffusion to compare the two sites. 

I thought it would be fun for students to think of an image in their minds that consists of three things to create a story from. I would then plug those three things into these two sites to see what images they come up with using AI. The students could use the image to then create their own image or use the AI generated one. From there, they could create a story based on their imaginary character, setting, situation, etc. 

I was very surprised at how different Stable Diffusion was compared to Canva. I plugged in the same three words (turtle, skateboard, mountain) in both sites and this was what Stable Diffusion produced using AI.

You can see the one image didn’t even have a turtle in it. 

Here is the what Canva produced using the same three words..

                                  So much better!

I tried it one more time to see if Canva was consistency better. This time, I used Pokemon, karate, and fishing as my words. 

         Here is Stable Diffusion’s image..

 

This also took a longer time to generate and it doesn’t even have a Pokemon character in it.
